PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Mackintosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Stiglitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stiglitz has chosen Street Gang as his entrance music. Hugo Stiglitz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Mackintosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hugo Stiglitz!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackintosh shoots in looking for a takedown. Stiglitz tries to sprawl out of it but Mackintosh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stiglitz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stiglitz shoots in for a takedown but Mackintosh shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mackintosh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Stiglitz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stiglitz trying to control but Mackintosh is working from the bottom.
Stiglitz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mackintosh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Stiglitz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mackintosh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mackintosh is looking to stand back up but Stiglitz counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mackintosh.
Mackintosh is positioning himself well to prevent Stiglitz advancing to mount.

Mackintosh manages to get to full guard.
Stiglitz trying to control the position from guard on top but Mackintosh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stiglitz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stiglitz passes Mackintosh's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Stiglitz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mackintosh!

Stiglitz seems to be working for a kimura but Mackintosh defends the submission attempt.
Mackintosh is not content to let Stiglitz control the position.

Mackintosh actively working from the bottom here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mackintosh is looking to control Stiglitz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mackintosh avoid being mounted?

Stiglitz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mackintosh sees it coming and defends easily.
Mackintosh moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mackintosh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stiglitz!
Mackintosh controlling the position easily from mount.
Stiglitz is squirming around, avoiding Mackintosh's attempts to control the action.
Stiglitz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Mackintosh wants to control but Stiglitz is keeping him busy.

Stiglitz looking for submissions off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mackintosh frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Mackintosh is working for a guillotine from mount but Stiglitz frees his head quite easily.
Stiglitz can't escape the position.
Mackintosh wants to take Stiglitz's back but he can't do it this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mackintosh trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Stiglitz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Mackintosh will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mackintosh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Stiglitz tries to clinch but Mackintosh is having none of it.
Stiglitz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stiglitz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mackintosh with a lazy takedown attempt
and Stiglitz counters with a right hand to the body.
Mackintosh thumps Stiglitz with a low kick.
Mackintosh lands with an uppercut that bounces Stiglitz off the cage and back into range.
Stiglitz tries to clinch but Mackintosh is having none of it.
Mackintosh tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stiglitz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mackintosh misses with a few strikes there.

Mackintosh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mackintosh looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mackintosh not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mackintosh seems keen to control Stiglitz's posture.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mackintosh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stiglitz is one step ahead there.
Mackintosh can't keep his opponent in guard - Stiglitz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Stiglitz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mackintosh doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stiglitz.

Stiglitz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mackintosh is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Stiglitz is tapping! Great win for Mackintosh!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Paul Mackintosh!
After winning the bout, Paul Mackintosh thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Hugo Stiglitz stepped up to the mic, saying 'We had a game plan. If it worked, it worked. If it didn't, it didn't. It didn't. '.
