Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Billy Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustaf Lindback (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez comes to the cage accompanied by Spill The Wine - War. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Gustaf Lindback!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Perez trying to mount his opponent but Lindback defends it.
Still in half guard, Perez seems content to control.
Perez wants to free his trapped foot but Lindback is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lindback is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ground and pound from Perez.

Lindback wants to improve his position but Perez is controlling well.
Perez content to control rather than advance.
Lindback is refusing to be controlled, as Perez sits in half guard.

Perez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Perez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gustaf Lindback hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Perez gets the takedown into side control.
Lindback is working to avoid the ground and pound but Perez connects with a decent elbow.
Lindback seems a little lost for a moment, as Perez dominates the positioning.
Lindback tries to bench press Perez off him but Perez keeps the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lindback is not content to let Perez control the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lindback manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Perez tries to get to full guard but Lindback has control of the leg.
Lindback is thwarting Perez's attempts to control the position.
Lindback thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Perez is looking to improve his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lindback connects with a nice short shot to Perez's temple.
Lindback is trying to control the action in half guard but Perez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lindback is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Perez is just riding it out for now. Lindback eventually gives up the hold.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lindback in particular looking to stall.

Lindback is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Perez is just riding it out for now. Lindback eventually gives up the hold.
Perez wants to improve his position but Lindback is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Billy Perez will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lindback just misses with a punch to the body.
Lindback steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Perez.
Perez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lindback is fending him off so far but Perez persists. Nope, Lindback circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lindback looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Perez shoots for a double leg takedown but Lindback sprawls well. He's pushed Perez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Billy Perez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Lindback counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lindback tries to close the distance and clinch but Perez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Perez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lindback tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Perez was well out of range. Poor timing from Lindback.

Lindback throws a quick inside leg kick.
Perez slips under a jab.
Lindback throws a push kick but Perez slaps the foot to one side.

Perez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lindback moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Our spies down at at My own... inform us that Lindback has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Billy Perez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Perez is looking to take a break and control but Lindback is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lindback accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Perez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Perez looks to land a combination but Lindback avoids it well.
Lindback moves out of range of the strikes.
Lindback tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lindback uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Perez.

Lindback throws out a loose jab but Perez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lindback bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Lindback clobbers Perez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Lindback lands a nice looking kick to the body. Perez takes a step back to recover.

Perez shoots in for a takedown but Lindback shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lindback lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lindback throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lindback misses with an uppercut. Perez saw that one coming.
Perez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Perez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Perez throws a hook but Lindback blocks it.
Lindback scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Perez doesn't seem bothered though.

Lindback gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Perez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Lindback is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Perez lands a couple of elbows.

Lindback working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Perez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Perez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Perez wants to control from the top but Lindback keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Billy Perez.
I think Perez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
