The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

jb looking to score a takedown here. Ortiz is defending well but jb drives through and ends up in Ortiz's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
jb sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ortiz's guard.
jb wants to stand but Ortiz has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

jb is working for a kimura but Ortiz is defending it quite comfortably.
Ortiz tries to get to full guard but jb has control of the leg.
Ortiz has a hand on jb's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. jb takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

jb jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ortiz manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Ortiz tries to lock up and control but jb gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ortiz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ortiz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. jb defends it easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ortiz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ortiz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but jb defends well and Ortiz ends up having to push jb into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Ortiz is fighting off a takedown attempt but jb is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ortiz to the mat. Ortiz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
