The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leer has Adamek up against the cage in a clinch.
Adamek tries to circle away but Leer has him pinned against the cage.
Leer is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Leer pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Adamek trying to control the position from guard on top but Leer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Adamek wants to pass the guard but Leer is keeping the position.

Leer swings around for an armbar but Adamek sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Leer's guard.

Adamek wants to pass the guard but Leer is keeping the position.

Adamek slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Leer was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Leer gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Adamek manages to work his way to half guard, despite Leer's best efforts.
Leer is taking a breather. Adamek says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Leer is keen to just control but Adamek is a slippery customer.

Adamek makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Adamek.

Leer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
My spies in Main Event Gym inform me that Leer has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Leer throws a right hand that Adamek ducks under and follows up with a left that Adamek also avoids with ease.

Mike Leer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adamek feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Adamek shoots in and drives through. Leer sprawls well.
Leer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Adamek to the ground. Leer is now in Adamek's guard.

Adamek is squirming around, avoiding Leer's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leer prevents Adamek from getting the reversal.

Leer wants to take Adamek's back but he can't do it this time.
Adamek is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tomasz Adamek overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Leer misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Adamek is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Leer is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Leer stuffs the takedown.

Leer isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Adamek stacks Leer on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Adamek!
Adamek is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Leer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Leer is trying to control Adamek's posture but Adamek avoids it.

Adamek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leer keeps working.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mike Leer really dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Leer gets a takedown into half guard.
Adamek tries to roll over but Leer keeps him under control.
Adamek has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Leer. Oh but Adamek has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Leer goes limp - he's gone! Adamek jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
