The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sparks scores with a hook to the body. Carter takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sparks feints and then cracks Carter's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Carter down.
Sparks drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Sparks counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Carter!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carter stops Sparks from passing to mount.
Carter parries the strikes from Sparks easily there. Sparks is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carter to escape.
Carter is looking to reverse the position.
Carter is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Madz that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Sparks goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Carter has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sparks but great work by Carter.

My spies in Finch Farm inform me that Sparks has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
