The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximus moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Desmond shoots in for a double leg but Maximus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Desmond dives in and grabs Maximus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maximus pushes down on Desmond 's head and hops out.
Maximus feints and then cracks Desmond 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Desmond down.
Maximus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Micheal Desmond . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maximus connects with an inside leg kick.
A left lands for Maximus.
Desmond tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Maximus swivels and escapes.
Maximus lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Maximus cracks a nice hook into Desmond 's ribs.
Desmond shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maximus but Maximus pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Desmond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Desmond shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Maximus sprawls well. Maximus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Desmond gets slowly back to his feet.
Maximus jabs at Desmond 's body.

Maximus scores with a head kick. Desmond tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Desmond closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Desmond has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Maximus defend it? Desmond steps over the head and cranks it - Maximus is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Desmond !
