Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Zaccaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koji Sobando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matheus Zaccaro has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matheus Zaccaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Koji Sobando!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobando scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Zaccaro keeps the fight on the outside.
Sobando fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sobando lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Zaccaro backs up against the cage.


It looks like Matheus Zaccaro has been cut.
Zaccaro is breathing heavily.
Zaccaro shoots in for a takedown but Sobando shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Zaccaro has been working on his balance at Evil Emp-HEAD HUNTERS FIGHTCLUB ELITE4CHEAP//19COA, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Sobando.
Zaccaro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sobando tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Zaccaro manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sobando misses with a double jab.
Sobando stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sobando wants it to stay on the feet.
Zaccaro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sobando sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matheus Zaccaro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sobando shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sobando showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sobando seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zaccaro does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Zaccaro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sobando pulls his head out easily.
Zaccaro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Zaccaro tries to get out of the position.
Sobando thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sobando wants to take a breather but Zaccaro is having none of it.
Sobando is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Sobando passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Zaccaro!

Sobando jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Zaccaro manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Sobando wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zaccaro, who protects the arm well.
Sobando remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Sobando has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Zaccaro tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sobando easily slips into full mount!
Sobando postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Zaccaro looks a forlorn figure.
Zaccaro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sobando on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sobando is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Sobando extends the arm and Zaccaro is forced to tap!
