Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trent Mauser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Engle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joey Engle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Trent Mauser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joey Engle!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mauser.
Engle lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Mauser throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Engle looks to score with a jab to the body but Mauser is just out of range.
Engle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Engle moves out of range of the body kick from Mauser.
Mauser swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Engle counters with a right hand to the body.
Engle just misses with a punch to the body.
Mauser dives in and grabs Engle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Engle pushes down on Mauser's head and hops out.
Engle avoids the head kick by Mauser.
Engle has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Mauser bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Engle is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Engle is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mauser asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Engle takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Engle is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Engle has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mauser off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Mauser shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Engle as he avoids it easily.
Mauser throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Engle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mauser manages to avoid it.
Engle lands a lovely overhand right.
Engle feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mausers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Mauser shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Engle as he avoids it easily.

Trent Mauser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mauser throws a chopping leg kick but Engle manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Engle, as that shot connected.
Engle is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mauser rather than just go for the knockout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Engle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mauser moves away.
Engle thows a body shot but no joy.
Engle displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mauser.
Engle tries to score with a low kick but Mauser moves his leg out of the way.
Mauser closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Joey Engle has been cut.
Mauser will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Engle looks to score with a jab to the body but Mauser is just out of range.

Engle is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A solid leg kick lands there for Engle.
Engle buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mauser is breathing heavily.
Engle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mauser manages to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joey Engle will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Joey Engle's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mauser throws a head kick but Engle moves out of range.

Engle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Engle throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mauser sees it coming and avoids it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Trent Mauser wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Engle swings for the body but Mauser moves out of range.

so Mauser counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Engle is looking to stand up but Mauser isn't so interested in that idea.

Engle has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Mauser has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Mauser has Engle pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Engle manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mauser has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mauser goes for a takedown attempt but Engle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trent Mauser will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Mauser throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Engle was covering up waiting for the punch and Mauser finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mauser has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mauser is looking to work some ground and pound but Engle has wrist control.
Mauser won't allow Engle to get back to his feet.

Joey Engle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Engle.
Mauser has a takedown stuffed.
Engle tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Mauser is able to avoid easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trent Mauser.
I think Mauser has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
