Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sho Hayashi!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balangay displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hayashi.

Hayashi's coach down at Tōshi was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hayashi's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Wally Balangay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Balangay pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hayashi back to the cage. Balangay follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Hayashi misses with a takedown attempt - Balangay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hayashi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Balangay rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hayashi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hayashi dives in for a single leg takedown but Balangay sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Balangay's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Hayashi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Balangay gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hayashi is trying desperately to land a takedown but Balangay is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hayashi.

Balangay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Balangay lands a left and a right that send Hayashi crashing to the mat, dazed. Balangay thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Hayashi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Balangay avoids it really well and circles away.
Hayashi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Balangay connects with a body shot that sends Hayashi's belly button to the back.
Hayashi closes the distance looking to clinch
and Balangay counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Balangay is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hayashi can do to turn this around?

Balangay stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Balangay lands a big uppercut and Hayashi crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Hayashi looks OK. Balangay waves Hayashi back to his feet!
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Balangay here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Balangay drops Hayashi with a huge uppercut! Hayashi drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Balangay is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wally Balangay!
