PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lipton Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Scott told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott tries to clinch but Myers is having none of it.
Myers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Scott as he jumps to the side.
Myers looks to land a combination but Scott avoids it well.
Myers looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Myers shoots in but no luck this time.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt.

Scott takes the fight into the clinch.
Scott is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Myers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Myers wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Scott takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Scott has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Myers is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lipton Myers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Scott.

Myers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Scott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Myers defending against the ground and pound.
Myers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Myers is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Scott is controlling him well.
Myers looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Myers is looking for a sweep.
Scott throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Myers is breathing heavily.
Scott creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Myers sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Myers tries to bench press Scott off him but Scott keeps the position.
Myers struggling a bit here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scott is trying to ground and pound but Myers uses the momentary lack of control by Scott to regain half guard.
Scott thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott misses with a head shot. Myers uses the momentum to regain guard.
Scott in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Myers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Scott wants to control from the top but Myers keeps moving.
Scott loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Myers looking to control.
Scott trying to move into half guard but instead Myers has managed to sweep!
Myers cracks Scott with a solid left hand.
Myers won't allow Scott to sweep him here.
Scott can't keep his opponent in guard - Myers advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Myers wants to take a breather but Scott is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Myers passes to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Myers cracks Scott with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Scott will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Scott tries to close the distance and clinch but Myers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Myers looks to land a combination. Scott sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Scott has his takedown stuffed
and Myers counters with a series of strikes. Scott will be more careful next time no doubt.
Myers throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Scott tries for a takedown but Myers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Myers throws a head kick but Scott moves out of range.

Myers shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Scott napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Myers tries to move into full mount but can't pass Scott's legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Myers in side control lands a decent elbow.
Myers working the head and body with strikes.

Myers tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Myers lands some shots froms side control.
Myers landing a few strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big shot lands for Myers! That's hurt Scott! Will he recover? Myers fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
