Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cyrus Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lyoto Machida has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Cyrus Lucas's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lucas quickly recovers to half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Machida is looking for a kimura but Lucas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Machida to get the leverage.
Lucas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machida on the ground.
Lucas wants to control but Machida is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Still in half guard, Machida seems content to control.

Machida is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lucas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Machida to the mat. Machida regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Machida has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lucas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
