Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abe Velez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Sliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Sliver has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sliver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Velez, pushing him back against the cage.

Sliver pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sliver is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Sliver has closed the distance and engaged Velez in a clinch.

Sliver gets control of Velez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sliver will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Velez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sliver bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Velez's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Frank Sliver wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sliver throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

It looks like Abe Velez has been cut.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Velez jumps guard but Sliver turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Velez tries to free his leg and advance position but Sliver is retaining full guard.
Sliver wants to stand but Velez is controlling the position.

Sliver wants to sweep here but Velez controlling him for the moment.

Sliver has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Velez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sliver.
Sliver tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Velez easily slips into full mount!
Sliver sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
