PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shamil Basayev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baki Hanma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Baki Hanma was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shamil Basayev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Baki Hanma!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanma closes the distance and clinches up with Basayev, looking for a takedown. Hanma pushes Basayev against the cage but Basayev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Basayev throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hanma on the side of the head.
Hanma dives in for a single leg takedown but Basayev sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hanma tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Basayev smiles and moves away.
Shamil Basayev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baki Hanma.
Basayev throws an overhand right that lands on Hanma's shoulder, as Hanma tries to avoid the shot.
Basayev just misses with a punch to the body.
Basayev leaves Hanma with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hanma doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Basayev counters with a lovely shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hanma shoots and misses
and Basayev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Basayev cracks Hanma with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Basayev has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Hanma to stand back up!

It looks like Baki Hanma has been cut.
Hanma looks winded!
Basayev fakes the body blow, causing Hanma to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Hanma goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
