Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azamat Bagov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Alverez!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Alverez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bagov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Alverez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bagov is looking for a sweep.
Bagov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Bagov is trying to maintain the position but Alverez is very close to passing his half guard.
Bagov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bagov looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bagov avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Alverez.
Alverez wants to take a breather but Bagov is having none of it.

Bagov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alverez pulls his head out easily.

Bagov is trying to stand up here but Alverez is controlling him well.

Azamat Bagov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Alverez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alverez wants to control but Bagov is keeping him busy.
Alverez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bagov is looking to regain half guard here but Alverez keeps moving and retains side control.
Bagov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Bagov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alverez on the ground.
Bagov tries to kick Alverez off but Alverez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Alverez is looking to stall here but Bagov recovers full guard.

Alverez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alverez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bagov pushes Alverez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
We've been informed that Alverez has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Alverez dives in and scores a takedown into Bagov's guard.
Bagov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bagov tries to get out of the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bagov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Alverez throwing strikes but missing.

Bagov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alverez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alverez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bagov has his feet on Alverez's thighs here. He's pushed Alverez off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Alverez screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Azamat Bagov was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
