PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler Miller has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyler Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erik Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller wants to clinch up but Gordon keeps it at a distance.

Miller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gordon, pushing him back against the cage.

Miller lands a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Miller gets to his feet. Gordon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Miller fails with the takedown.
Miller shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gordon pinned against the cage. Gordon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gordon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Miller sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Miller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gordon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Miller somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Miller misses with a wild body shot.

Miller shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Miller showed some decent athleticism there.

Miller seems to be working for a kimura but Gordon defends the submission attempt.
Miller not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gordon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gordon wants to get back to full guard.

Miller is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gordon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Miller.
Miller landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Miller content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Miller looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller uses his free foot to push down on Gordon's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gordon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miller gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Miller shoots in and gets a takedown into Gordon's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gordon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Miller controls the pace.
Gordon keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
Miller will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gordon wants to stand up but Miller is controlling him.
Miller is stalling in the full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tyler Miller.
A combination from Gordon does no damage.
Tyler Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Miller goes for a double leg but Gordon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gordon continues to drive forward.
Miller goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gordon prevents it.
Miller jumps guard but Gordon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gordon is looking to break free of the clinch but Miller has double underhooks.
Gordon tries to circle away but Miller has him pinned against the cage.
Gordon blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Gordon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Miller wants to get back to striking at distance but Gordon won't allow it.
Gordon is trying to force a seperation but Miller has the dominant position.
Miller jumps guard but Gordon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gordon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Miller tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gordon prevents Miller from moving into mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Miller has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gordon managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Miller.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler Miller dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Miller fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gordon avoids it really well and circles away.
Miller shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gordon but Gordon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Miller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Gordon, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Gordon against the cage but Gordon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gordon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Miller on the wrong end of a nice hook.


It looks like Tyler Miller has been cut.
Gordon cracks Miller with a right hand to the side of the head.
Gordon pounces like a tiger and cracks Miller with a vicious hook! Miller is down but not out! Gordon follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Erik Gordon!
