PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Allan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buddy Morales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Allan!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Allan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Morales napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Morales struggling a bit here.
Morales is looking to regain half guard here but Allan keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allan throws a strike aimed at the side of Morales's head but Morales avoids it well.

Morales is trying to improve his position.
Morales wants to get back to his feet but Allan drags him back down.
Allan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Allan decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Morales is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Allan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Allan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Buddy Morales wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Allan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Morales might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Allan won't allow Morales to get back to his feet.
Morales seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Buddy Morales has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Allan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Allan showed some decent athleticism there.
Allan wants to stand up but Morales is controlling the position.

Morales is looking to escape.
Morales has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Allan is working away from the top position though.
Allan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Morales's head.
Allan wants to take a breather but Morales is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Allan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Morales, pushing him back against the cage.
Morales misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Allan.
Allan looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Allan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Morales goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Morales lands a damaging elbow.
Allan is trying to break the clinch but Morales has him pressed against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Allan.
Morales jumps guard but Allan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Morales misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Morales has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Allan is trying to keep an underhook but Morales manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Allan wants to get back to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Allan controls Morales momentarily but Morales frees himself.

That's time! Morales's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Morales is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Allan presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Allan misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Morales is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Allan off and has taken his back!

Josh Allan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Allan throws a body kick that misses.

Allan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Morales on his heels. He'll look to pass Morales's guard now, I'm sure.

Allan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morales does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Allan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Morales doesn't manage to clinch there - Allan circles away.
Buddy Morales has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Josh Allan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Allan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
