PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sean Callaghan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Syatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Syatt is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tony Bennett - I wanna be around. Lee Syatt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sean Callaghan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Syatt!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Syatt. Those never looked like landing.
Callaghan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Syatt darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Callaghan is trying to maintain the position but Syatt is very close to passing his half guard.

Callaghan controls Syatt momentarily but Syatt frees himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Callaghan has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Syatt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Callaghan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Callaghan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Callaghan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sean Callaghan will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Callaghan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

I really don't envy Callaghan right now.
Well, with Syatt on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Callaghan is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Callaghan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Syatt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Callaghan has managed to get both his arms back between Syatt's legs - danger averted.
