The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Badajos fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vos, pushing him back against the cage. Badajos breaks the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vos has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Vos tries to keep at a distance but Badajos has taken the fight into the clinch. Badajos has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Vos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Badajos is trying to stick to Vos's back but Vos is turning into Badajos. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Badajos's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Vos. Vos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Badajos swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vos trying to control the position from guard on top but Badajos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Badajos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vos on the ground. Vos slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badajos looks to move to half guard but instead Vos has passed into mount! Damn! Vos has control of Badajos's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Badajos regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Vos thowing shots but they're missing. Vos working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Badajos turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Vos off and cradles Badajos's limp body as Vos celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jake Vos! Jake Vos seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
