Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wes Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mo Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mo Lester told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Wes Landry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mo Lester!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lester fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Landry avoids it really well and circles away.
Lester looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lester closes the distance but Landry moves to the side

and Landry counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Landry looking to sit in guard and control but Lester gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Landry wants to control but Lester passes easily into half guard.
Landry wants to get back to his feet.
Landry tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Landry might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lester has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad The Island. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mo Lester.

Landry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Landry lands in his opponent's guard.

Lester is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Landry drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Landry jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Landry thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Lester is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Landry has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
