Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ragnar Lodbrok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cortland Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lodbrok comes to the cage accompanied by Glory and Gore. Cartwright has chosen St. Anger as his entrance music. Ragnar Lodbrok has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ragnar Lodbrok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cortland Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright shoots in but no luck this time.

Lodbrok has closed the distance and engaged Cartwright in a clinch.
Cartwright tries to score a body lock takedown but Lodbrok shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lodbrok throws a head punch that misses.
Cartwright blocks an uppercut.
A nice left hand lands by Lodbrok.
A frustrated look appears on Lodbrok's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Cartwright tries for a takedown but Lodbrok manages to get underhooks.
Ragnar Lodbrok has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cortland Cartwright.

Lodbrok gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Cartwright is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lodbrok scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cartwright misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Lodbrok not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Lodbrok is nestled in close to Cartwright, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cartwright is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lodbrok postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cartwright lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lodbrok!
Lodbrok is trying desperately to improve position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cartwright throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Lodbrok tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lodbrok knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cartwright on the ground.
Cartwright throws some wild stikes that Lodbrok manages to avoid easily.
We've been hearing good reports from Lodbrok's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cartwright working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Cartwright avoids the attempt from Lodbrok to control.
Cartwright can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lodbrok is looking to escape.
Lodbrok is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Cartwright moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lodbrok has worked his arm free - good work by Lodbrok!

Cartwright working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Cartwright goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lodbrok has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cartwright but great work by Lodbrok.
Cartwright manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Cartwright throws a strike but Lodbrok rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Cartwright has momentary wrist control but Lodbrok slips an elbow through the middle.
Lodbrok keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cartwright's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lodbrok is working Cartwright over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cartwright looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lodbrok with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ragnar Lodbrok will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Cartwright fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lodbrok sprawls well initially but Cartwright persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lodbrok is refusing to be controlled, as Cartwright sits in half guard.
Cartwright trying to control from Lodbrok's half guard. Lodbrok has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Cartwright is looking to work some ground and pound but Lodbrok has wrist control.

Lodbrok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Lodbrok will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cartwright drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lodbrok dives on top into guard.

Cartwright is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lodbrok is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Cartwright is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lodbrok is aware though and is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cartwright is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Lodbrok rolls with it to try and escape but Cartwright cranks on the arm and Lodbrok is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cortland Cartwright!
An out of breath Cortland Cartwright thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
