Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Al Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Silva as Drake shoots in.
Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Silva blocks a head kick by Drake.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Drake misses with a low kick.
Drake tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Silva has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.
Silva looks for a takedown but Drake sprawls well.
Al Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Silva.
A head kick misses from Drake.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Drake which made him look bad.
Drake throws a wild body kick that Silva sees coming a mile off.

Drake throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Drake swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Silva.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Drake sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Drake lands a nice shot that snaps Silva's head back.
Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Drake counters with a series of strikes. Silva will be more careful next time no doubt.
Drake stuffs the takedown attempt from Silva. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Drake shows good takedown defense.
Silva looks winded!
Drake tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes.
Silva takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Drake shoots in and bounces Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Silva is pulling down on Drake's head. It's preventing any offense from Drake, at least for the moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Drake looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Drake can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.

Drake is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Drake wants to hit a switch here but Silva passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Drake there!

Silva is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Drake with him. Drake is trying to defend but Silva has an arm under the chin now! Drake grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Fernando Silva!
