PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Bova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Idi Amin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amin has chosen Dangerous by Michael Jackson as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Bova!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Idi Amin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amin misses with a head kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Amin, right into the meat.
Amin connects with a body shot that sends Bova's belly button to the back.
Amin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
We've been hearing reports that Bova has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Nice takedown defense from Bova. No joy for Amin on that attempt.
Amin lands with a hook. Bova tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like Anthony Bova has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bova fails with the takedown

and Amin counters by moving into the clinch.

Bova tightens his grip and picks Amin up, before dumping him to the ground. Amin manages to land in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bova wants to control from the top but Amin keeps moving.
Bova working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Bova's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Bova tries to free his leg and advance position but Amin is retaining full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Amin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Anthony Bova has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Amin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Amin dives in and grabs Bova's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bova pushes down on Amin's head and hops out.
Anthony Bova has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Idi Amin.

Amin cracks Bova with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bova shoots and misses

and Amin moves into the clinch.
Amin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Bova has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Amin's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Bova is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Amin to keep the fight standing.
Bova takes a shot to the head.
Bova blocks an elbow strike from Amin.
Amin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bova avoids it.

Amin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Bova backwards.
Amin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Amin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Amin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Idi Amin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bova doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Amin counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Amin goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Bova jumps guard and drags Amin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Amin told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Amin stands up and waves to Bova to follow him.

Amin is looking to clinch.
Bova shoots in but Amin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Amin throws a head kick that Bova semi-blocks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Amin misses with a body kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Amin lands a big head kick that sends Bova tumbling to the mat! Amin takes a step backwards and waves Bova back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Bova is rocked!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bova is defended easily by Amin.
Amin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bova swivels and escapes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Idi Amin dominated that round.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

and Amin counters with a crisp right hand that drops Bova! Amin lets Bova back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Amin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bova.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bova is trying hard to land a takedown here. Amin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Bova. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bova shoots in for a double leg but Amin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Amin cracks Bova with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Amin has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Bova to stand back up!
Oh Bova is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Amin clinches.
Bova is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The referee calls for Amin to work.
Amin works on Bova's body with a couple of short punches.
Bova seems to have got his legs back now.

Amin unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bova lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Amin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Amin pushes off and lands a massive hook that knocks Bova out cold! The fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Idi Amin!
Idi Amin decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
