Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timo Kahuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Belcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timo Kahuna!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belcher moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kahuna swings for the body but Belcher moves out of range.
Kahuna's coach down at Island Conditioning was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kahuna's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Kahuna throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Belcher sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kahuna throws a lazy right hand but Belcher sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A swing and a miss from Kahuna.
Kahuna scores with a jab. Belcher acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Belcher moves out of range as Kahuna strikes.
Kahuna dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Belcher shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kahuna is trying to stand up here but Belcher is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belcher throwing shots but Kahuna is blocking nicely.
Kahuna tries to kick Belcher off but Belcher keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Belcher is trying to control. Kahuna wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Belcher thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Belcher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Belcher keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kahuna can do anything to dispel that myth.
Belcher throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belcher wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kahuna keeps working.
Belcher uses his free foot to push down on Kahuna's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kahuna.
Belcher lands a big shot there that rocks Kahuna but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Belcher looking to control but Kahuna is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


The crowd cheers as Kahuna lands an impressive looking overhand right. Belcher doesn't seem phased though.

Kahuna throws an overhand right that lands on Belcher's shoulder, as Belcher tries to avoid the shot.
Kahuna works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kahuna jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kahuna might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kahuna throws a looping overhand right but Belcher ducks down to avoid it.
Kahuna throws a big shot that misses.
Kahuna connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Belcher momentarily.
Kahuna misses with a straight right.
Kahuna defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Belcher.
Belcher ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Belcher fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kahuna fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kahuna swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Belcher shoots in for a double leg but Kahuna sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Belcher. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kahuna misses with a straight left.
Kahuna misses with an uppercut. Belcher saw that one coming.
Timo Kahuna is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Belcher closes the distance and clinches up with Kahuna, looking for a takedown. Belcher pushes Kahuna against the cage but Kahuna circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Timo Kahuna seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Belcher tries for a takedown but Kahuna sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Belcher throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kahuna's waist but Kahuna gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belcher off to one side.

and Kahuna counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Belcher! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Kahuna!
