PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arto Moro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kok Nos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kok Nos told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arto Moro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kok Nos!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nos scores with a jab. Moro acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It looks like Arto Moro has been cut.
Nos throws a right hand that Moro ducks under and follows up with a left that Moro also avoids with ease.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Moro is defended easily by Nos.
A nice inside leg kick there by Nos. That's going to slow Moro down.
Nos throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Moro dives in and grabs Nos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nos pushes down on Moro's head and hops out.

Nos lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nos just misses with a punch to the body.
Moro throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nos's waist but Nos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Moro off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arto Moro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nos drives through and clinches with Moro against the cage.
Moro is looking for a takedown.

Nos breaks from the clinch.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Nos!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nos throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Moro stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Nos follows into mount!

Moro is rocked!
Nos looks winded!

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Nos misses with some ground and pound and Moro recovers position to half guard.
Oh Moro is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Moro trying to hold on to Nos's head to control him but Nos postures up.

Nos is trying to work for a kimura but Moro is defending well.
Moro is pressing down on Nos's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Moro seems to have got his legs back now.
Moro controlling Nos's posture.
Nos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Moro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Moro is pulling down on Nos's head. It's preventing any offense from Nos, at least for the moment.
Nos throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nos working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Nos content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Moro has locked up a guillotine! Moro's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Nos is holding on here and Moro must be using up a lot of energy. Nos has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Moro gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
