Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex The Lion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex The Lion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rick Patton!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Lion uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Patton.
Patton has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
The Lion tries to close the distance and clinch but Patton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've been told by The Lion's head coaches at Elite Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Patton throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The Lion fails in his attempt to clinch.
The Lion tries to clinch there but Patton circles away.

Patton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Patton prevents The Lion from standing back up.
Patton looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Patton lands with a punch from half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The Lion is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Patton scores with a couple of nice shots.
Patton works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The Lion's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The Lion really wants to buck Patton off and get back to his feet.

The Lion is rocked!
Patton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Patton pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Oh The Lion is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The Lion takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Patton's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick Patton!
Rick Patton opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
