The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilderscmidt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Wilderscmidt wants to stand but Carter is controlling his arm.
Wilderscmidt trying to control the position but Carter is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilderscmidt prevents Carter from escaping the position.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wilderscmidt wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy.
Wilderscmidt wants to stand but Carter has his arm trapped.
Carter takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Carter can't do much from the bottom here.
Carter pushes Wilderscmidt away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wilderscmidt gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Wilderscmidt throws an elbow but Carter slips to the side and avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Carter's face as Wilderscmidt controls the position.

Wilderscmidt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wilderscmidt works to advance to full mount. Carter defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Wilderscmidt cracks Carter with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Oh Carter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wilderscmidt loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Carter scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Wilderscmidt land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Wilderscmidt stands and salutes the crowd.
