PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zach Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brooks might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Aqua Teen Hunger Force theme song. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Zach Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Vega!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Winston Howard and Ben Watson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vega tries to close the distance and clinch but Brooks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brooks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brooks tries for a takedown but Vega circles away easily

and Vega counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Brooks moves into full guard.

Vega drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vega jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vega stands and throws Brooks's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Vega moves into full mount!
Brooks wants to control but Vega is having none of it.
Vega is trying to take his opponent's back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vega postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Brooks looks a forlorn figure.

Brooks is trying to defend against the choke here but Vega has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Vega Tightens the hold and Brooks taps out furiously! Vega displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Steve Vega!
A very excited looking Steve Vega made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Zach Brooks was interviewed post fight and said 'ouch'.
