Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Garth Lara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurice Marion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maurice Marion is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marion fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Lara holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Lara has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Marion avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Lara - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Marion's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lara throws a big right hand that misses.

Lara got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marion has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lara has managed to get both his arms back between Marion's legs - danger averted.

Lara thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lara drops back looking for a leg! Marion is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marion manages to kick Lara off! Lara jumps back into Marion's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Garth Lara will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A solid leg kick lands there for Marion.
Lara stuffs the takedown attempt from Marion. Marion gets slowly back to his feet.
Lara finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Lara avoids a punch combination nicely.

Maurice Marion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lara shoots in looking for a takedown. Marion tries to sprawl out of it but Lara keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marion manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lara lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Lara throws the kick towards the body but Marion avoids it.

and Marion counters with a big head kick but Lara shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Marion lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lara backwards.
Lara is looking to take this one to the mat.
Marion fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Marion is trying to drag Lara to the mat but Lara just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Marion has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lara after a bit of a struggle.

Marion looking to sit in guard and control but Lara gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Marion has his foot on Lara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lara works his way back into a safe position though.
Lara is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Maurice Marion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd cheers as Marion lands an impressive looking overhand right. Lara doesn't seem phased though.
