PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo DeRosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Adamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adamek has chosen I Am The Sword - Motorhead as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo DeRosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 25 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tomasz Adamek!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adamek slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Adamek moves out of range of the body kick.
Adamek on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by DeRosa. DeRosa obviously looking to wear him down.
Adamek avoids a kick to the body.
DeRosa throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Adamek counters with a shoot takedown. DeRosa fights it but they end up in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Adamek advances position into side control!
Adamek looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DeRosa is looking for a sweep.

Adamek working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
DeRosa tries to improve position but can't.
DeRosa has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
DeRosa wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Adamek happy to just control the position for now.

Adamek trying to control the action but DeRosa is working from the bottom.
DeRosa is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Adamek is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. DeRosa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
DeRosa is trying to control Adamek's posture but Adamek avoids it.

DeRosa is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Adamek asserts his dominance and retains side control.
DeRosa is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
DeRosa struggling a bit here.
DeRosa is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Adamek is controlling him well.
DeRosa tries to buck Adamek off but Adamek is having none of it.

DeRosa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

DeRosa is trying to buck Adamek off.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Adamek wants to control but DeRosa is keeping him busy.

Adamek controls the position.
DeRosa tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on DeRosa's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
DeRosa misses with a body kick.
DeRosa throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Adamek.


It looks like Tomasz Adamek has been cut.
DeRosa lands with a right hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
DeRosa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Adamek scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Adamek is trying to control. DeRosa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeRosa is trying to maintain the position but Adamek is very close to passing his half guard.
DeRosa is not content to let Adamek control the position.
Adamek works his foot free and advances to mount.
Adamek can't control as he wanted to and DeRosa manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Adamek is sneakily working for an arm triangle but DeRosa sees it coming and defends easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Adamek is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tomasz Adamek will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


DeRosa comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
DeRosa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Adamek shoots in looking for a takedown. DeRosa tries to sprawl out of it but Adamek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DeRosa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Adamek misses with an uppercut.
DeRosa scores with a jab. Adamek acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
DeRosa lands with a shot to the body.
A slapping body kick lands there for DeRosa.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Adamek.
DeRosa lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Adamek shoots in looking for a takedown. DeRosa tries to sprawl out of it but Adamek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DeRosa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Leonardo DeRosa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomasz Adamek.
Adamek stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from DeRosa.
Adamek moves out of range as DeRosa strikes.
DeRosa lets loose with a powerful body kick. Adamek will feel that in the morning.
DeRosa motions for Adamek to come forward. DeRosa throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Adamek stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from DeRosa.
Adamek shoots in looking for a takedown. DeRosa tries to sprawl out of it but Adamek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DeRosa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Adamek takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


Adamek is rocked!

DeRosa is stalking Adamek. Adamek circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from DeRosa, and it's lights out! Adamek really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
