Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arstan Selmy!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Selmy stuffs the takedown.
Smiths shoots in but Selmy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
An inside leg kick lands from Selmy.
Selmy has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Selmy circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smiths clinches up against the cage.
Selmy is struggling to control the position.
Smiths's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Smiths tries for a takedown. No joy.

Selmy throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Smithss head.
Smiths has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Selmy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Selmy is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Smiths can't fight it off and eventually Selmy manages to take the fight to the floor. Smiths looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Smiths bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Selmy's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Selmy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smiths can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Smiths tries to free his leg and advance position but Selmy is retaining full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smiths throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Selmy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Smiths landing some decent shots from guard.
Selmy wants to sweep but no luck.
Selmy is pulling down on Smiths's head to control his posture.

Smiths pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Selmy is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

John Smiths seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Selmy or perhaps it was just good defense by Smiths which made him look bad.

Smiths shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Selmy as he avoids it easily.
Smiths throws a left and a right that both miss
and Selmy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Smiths is breathing heavily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Selmy. Smiths shrugs it off though.

Smiths closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Selmy to the mat! Selmy manages to get full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Selmy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Smiths avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Smiths is posturing up here but Selmy has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Smiths tries to roll out but it's too tight and Smiths has to tap! Slick submission there by Selmy!
