Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Hatred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Ivey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatred comes to the cage accompanied by Soulfly - Pain. Ivey has chosen Friday as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Hatred!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 41 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Ivey!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatred takes a swing at Ivey's ribcage but misses.
Hatred avoids the head kick by Ivey.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hatred.
Jab, jab by Ivey - just one landing.
Ivey scores with a hook to the body. Hatred takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hatred connects with a solid leg kick.
Hatred connects with a leg kick. Ivey looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hatred slips under a jab.
Hatred tries to move into range but Ivey moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hatred lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Hatred throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Hatred throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ivey.
Ivey throws the kick towards the body but Hatred avoids it.
Hatred goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ivey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hatred moves away.
Hatred throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ivey blocks a head kick by Hatred.
We've been informed that Ivey has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Ivey bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Hatred tries to land a front kick but Ivey steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hatred avoids the body shot from Ivey.
Hatred throws a lazy uppercut

and Ivey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hatred's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ivey trying to control but Hatred is working from the bottom.

Ivey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hatred swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ivey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hatred does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hatred tries to get to full guard but Ivey has control of the leg.
Hatred on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ivey wants to take a breather but Hatred is having none of it.
Ivey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ivey is looking to take a break and control but Hatred is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are battling for position here. Hatred manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hatred looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ivey is one step ahead there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hatred controls Ivey momentarily but Ivey frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ivey cracks Hatred with a solid left hand.

Hatred scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ivey throws a leg kick which misses Hatred's front leg but catches the back leg as Hatred tries to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hatred goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Hatred moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Hatred just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Ivey dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ivey lands a right hook to the body.
Hatred on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Hatred scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Hatred keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Ivey scores with a hook to the body. Hatred takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hatred needs to keep his hands up - Ivey had a free shot at his head there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ivey loads up on a big right hand but Hatred slips the punch.

Hatred fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ivey has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Hatred checks the leg kick nicely there.
Hatred moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hatred takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Hatred lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ivey at a distance.
Ivey misses the shot to the body.
Ivey throws the kick towards the body but Hatred avoids it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hatred.
Hatred throws a body punch but Ivey moves out of range.
Ivey jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hatred throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Phil Ivey seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hatred throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

so Ivey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ivey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hatred is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ivey defends well.
Ivey is looking to work some ground and pound but Hatred has wrist control.

Ivey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hatred has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ivey has managed to get both his arms back between Hatred's legs - danger averted.

Ivey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hatred works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hatred isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ivey stacks Hatred on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ivey!

Ivey is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hatred will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The ground and pound from Ivey seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Hatred is letting Ivey control him for a moment.
Ivey wants to control but Hatred is keeping him busy.

Ivey looks up at the clock and then as Hatred takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ivey smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hatred is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ivey connects with a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Ivey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ivey throws a head kick but Hatred moves out of range.
Ivey throws a solid leg kick but Hatred takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ivey.
Ivey scores with a push kick.
Ivey connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Ivey lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ivey lands with a kick to the temple. Hatred shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Ivey buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ivey slips under a jab from Hatred.

Ivey throws a lazy right hand but Hatred sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Hatred throws a leg kick but Ivey sees it coming and checks it nicely.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hatred.
Hatred waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ivey.

Ivey's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Ivey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hatred swings for the body but Ivey moves out of range.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ivey scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Ivey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ivey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Max Hatred has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ivey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hatred's guard.

Hatred is looking for a triangle but Ivey pushes his legs off easily.

Phil Ivey is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ivey stops Hatred from standing up.
Ivey is in close to Hatred's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hatred is trying to control the position but Ivey postures up.
Ivey throws a big right hand that misses.
Hatred throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Hatred has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ivey is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hatred.

Well Ivey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
