Velasquez has chosen In The End-Linkin Park as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Cain Velasquez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcclain fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Velasquez to the ground. Mcclain is now in Velasquez's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mcclain throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mcclain is in close to Velasquez's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Velasquez is looking for a triangle but Mcclain pushes his legs off easily.

Mcclain is working Velasquez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez has momentary wrist control but Mcclain slips an elbow through the middle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez is working an open guard so Mcclain takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mcclain circles away from the clinch attempt

and Mcclain counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mcclain is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oliver Mcclain dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Velasquez moves in looking to clinch but Mcclain pushes him off.

Mcclain clinches up with Velasquez and pushes him back against the cage.

Mcclain pulls guard effortlessly.
Mcclain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mcclain is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Velasquez comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Oliver Mcclain has been cut.
Velasquez lands an elbow inside that Mcclain shrugs off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcclain wants a takedown but no success here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Velasquez putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Mcclain in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Mcclain takes a knee right on the jaw!

Velasquez connects with a massive knee from the clinch and Mcclain goes down! Velasquez jumps into full mount looking to finish!


Mcclain is rocked!


Oliver Mcclain's cut is getting worse.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez cracks Mcclain with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
In his post fight interview, Cain Velasquez started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
