Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Veikko Kulkunen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rico Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kulkunen throws a leg kick but Johnson sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Kulkunen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Johnson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Kulkunen trying to hold on to Johnson's head to control him but Johnson postures up.
Kulkunen manages to get to full guard.

Kulkunen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kulkunen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Johnson passes into side control.
Kulkunen being controlled for a moment.
Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson tries to stand but Kulkunen is controlling his head.
Johnson working the strikes but Kulkunen uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Kulkunen actively working from the bottom here.

Kulkunen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Johnson prevents Kulkunen from improving his position.

Kulkunen trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Johnson manages to pass to mount!
Kulkunen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Johnson tries to control but Kulkunen wriggling away.

Johnson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kulkunen is on top in guard.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kulkunen wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Kulkunen trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Johnson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Johnson stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Kulkunen throws up his legs and catches Johnson in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Johnson tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Kulkunen! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Veikko Kulkunen!
