Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lj Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Weed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gibbs comes to the cage accompanied by LJ Gibbs. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lj Gibbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Weed!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs misses with a takedown

so Weed counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Weed wants to stand but Gibbs has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Weed looking to pass the guard.
Gibbs looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Weed gets to his feet. Gibbs looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Weed defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gibbs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gibbs is defended easily by Weed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lj Gibbs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gibbs throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Gibbs fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Weed to the ground. Gibbs is now in Weed's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Weed keeping moving, preventing Gibbs from controlling successfully.
Weed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Weed had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gibbs defends it easily.

Weed is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gibbs is controlling him.
Gibbs has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Weed has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Gibbs is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Weed is pressed up against the cage. Gibbs has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Weed down to the mat. Weed avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gibbs stuffs the takedown.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Weed swats away the attempt to clinch by Gibbs.
Gibbs goes for a double leg but Weed avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Weed continues to drive forward.
Gibbs tries to score a body lock takedown but Weed shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Weed manages to break the clinch.

Weed feints and as Gibbs raises his hands in defense, Weed changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Weed not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Gibbs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Weed.
Weed tries to stand but can't do so whilst Gibbs controls his leg.

Weed not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Weed prevents Gibbs from standing back up.
Weed is nestled in close to Gibbs, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gibbs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Weed swivels and escapes.

A left and a right from Gibbs both land. Nice combination.
Weed closes the distance and clinches up with Gibbs, looking for a takedown. Weed pushes Gibbs against the cage but Gibbs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Gibbs manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Weed stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gibbs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Weed drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gibbs manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Weed has Gibbs in his guard.
Weed tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Weed throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Gibbs trying to control but Weed is working from the bottom.
Weed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gibbs drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Weed dives on top into guard.

Gibbs shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Weed sprawls well. Weed wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gibbs gets slowly back to his feet.
Weed goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Gibbs leaves Weed with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Weed takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lj Gibbs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Weed keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gibbs throws a body punch but Weed moves out of range.
Lj Gibbs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gibbs shoots in for a takedown but Weed shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gibbs fails to land the takedown.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Weed wants to clinch.
Lj Gibbs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Weed tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gibbs swats him away and circles back towards the center.
