PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Frederick Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson dives in and grabs Turner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Turner pushes down on Jackson's head and hops out.
Jackson with a lazy takedown attempt
and Turner counters with a solid body kick.
Turner throws a half hearted mid kick.
Turner shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Turner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown but Turner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jackson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Frederick Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Jackson.
Jackson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jackson has a takedown stuffed.
Turner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jackson has managed to clinch.
Jackson prevents Turner from breaking the clinch.
Jackson tries to work over Turner's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Turner manages to get underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Turner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jackson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jackson misses with a body punch.
Turner is pressed up against the cage. Jackson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Turner down to the mat. Turner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jackson looks winded!
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Turner pushes him off.
Turner takes one to the side of the head.
Turner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jackson swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Jackson throws a combination that misses
and Turner counters with a low kick, right behind Jackson 's knee.
Turner moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.

Turner moves into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Turner gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Turner is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Turner has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Turner decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Turner is defended easily by Jackson.
Jackson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Turner misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Turner closes the distance and clinches.
Jackson is trying to pull guard but Turner has him pressed against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Turner decides to pull guard.
Turner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Jackson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Turner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jackson has Turner in his guard.

Jackson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Turner stacks Jackson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Turner!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Turner gets to mount! Jackson was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Turner punching from mount but Jackson doing a good job of avoiding damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Turner controlling the position easily from mount.
Turner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jackson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frederick Turner dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Turner gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jackson fails to pull guard.
Turner looking to stall.
Turner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jackson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Turner avoids it.
Jackson prevents a takedown attempt there.

Turner jumps guard and drags Jackson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Turner looking for a sweep. Not yet Turner, not yet.
Jackson wanted to stand there but Turner had control of the position.
Turner keeping full guard, as Jackson tries to pass.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jackson wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Turner's closed guard. He's half up but Turner has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Turner pivots and extends the arm, Jackson falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Turner! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frederick Turner!
