Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Clohesy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Virgil Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Clohesy!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross misses with a takedown attempt - Clohesy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ross moves into the clinch.
Clohesy managing to block the knees to the body from Ross.
Ross is looking to break free of the clinch but Clohesy has double underhooks.
Clohesy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ross's efforts to push away.
Clohesy prevents Ross from breaking the clinch.

Clohesy breaks the clinch.
Clohesy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Clohesy shoots in looking for a takedown. Ross tries to sprawl out of it but Clohesy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ross manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ross tries for a takedown but Clohesy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ross misses with a takedown attempt - Clohesy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Virgil Ross. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ross shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clohesy as he avoids it easily.

Clohesy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ross, pushing him back against the cage.

Clohesy pulls guard successfully.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ross missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Clohesy working for a triangle but Ross defends it easily.
Clohesy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ross won't allow Clohesy to get back to his feet.
Clohesy has Ross pulled in close to control his posture.
Ross really is a fat lump.
Ross wants to control from the top but Clohesy keeps moving.
Ross wants to stand but Clohesy is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ross trying to control but Clohesy is working from the bottom.

Virgil Ross has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kyle Clohesy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clohesy throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Virgil Ross has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Clohesy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ross sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Clohesy somewhat.

Ross shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Clohesy defends it nicely.
Ross looks to clinch
and Clohesy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Clohesy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ross avoids it really well and circles away.

Ross throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Clohesy tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ross is in Clohesy's guard.
Ross postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Clohesy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ross trying to control the position from guard on top but Clohesy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Clohesy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ross manages to get himself to full guard.
Clohesy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ross swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Clohesy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ross not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Clohesy throws a big right hand that misses.
Clohesy trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Ross manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Clohesy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ross is one step ahead there.
Ross is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ross is looking to work some ground and pound but Clohesy has wrist control.
Ross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Clohesy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ross swivels and escapes.

We're going to have a standup here because Virgil Ross wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ross drives through with a takedown into Clohesy's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Clohesy is controlling Ross's posture.

Clohesy is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Ross drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Clohesy dives on top into guard.
Ross is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ross is trying to control the position but Clohesy postures up.
Clohesy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ross might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ross wants to sweep but no luck.

Ross wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Clohesy is now in half guard.
Virgil Ross overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Clohesy wants to work for an arm triangle but Ross is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ross is looking to control Clohesy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ross avoid being mounted?
Clohesy wants to stand but Ross has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Ross is looking to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Virgil Ross will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Horrible takedown by Ross or perhaps it was just good defense by Clohesy which made him look bad.

Clohesy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ross misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Clohesy.
Clohesy prevents the takedown attempt.
Ross trying to stall but Clohesy improves his position.

Clohesy clinches with his opponent.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ross accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Clohesy is looking for a triangle but Ross pushes his legs off easily.
Clohesy working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ross.
Clohesy wants to stand but Ross is controlling the position.

Ross drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ross jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ross is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Clohesy wants to get back to his feet but Ross is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ross's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Clohesy is looking to stand up but Ross isn't so interested in that idea.
Clohesy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ross is one step ahead there.
Ross cracks Clohesy with a solid left hand.

Ross throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ross throws a big right hand that misses.
Ross lands a couple of elbows.
Ross postures up and lands a big shot to Clohesy's brow.
Ross in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ross is working Clohesy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ross thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Clohesy keeping moving, preventing Ross from controlling successfully.

Clohesy controls Ross momentarily but Ross frees himself.

And that's the end of the fight!
Virgil Ross showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ross has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
