Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eiji Kawashima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinny Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Russo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Volbeat - The Human Instrument. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 29 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vinny Russo!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russo scores with a one two! Kawashima had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Kawashima throws a lazy right hand but Russo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've been told by Kawashima's head coaches at Furia Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kawashima throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kawashima throws a jab when Russo was well out of range.
Russo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Russo misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Russo working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

It looks like Vinny Russo has been cut.
Russo shoots in for a double leg but Kawashima sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kawashima enables Russo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kawashima manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kawashima seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Russo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I've got Russo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
