Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Kenyon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuo Takeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kenyon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Illinois Enema Bandit. Kazuo Takeda acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Kenyon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kazuo Takeda!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenyon avoids the body shot from Takeda.
Kenyon lands the left hand.
Kenyon thows a body shot but no joy.
Kenyon bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Takeda throws a sloppy body shot
and Takeda takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kenyon lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Kazuo Takeda has been cut.
Kenyon jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Kenyon throws a quick inside leg kick.
Takeda looks to land a right hand but Kenyon moved out of range.
Takeda swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Kenyon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kenyon wants to pass the guard but Takeda is keeping the position.

Takeda looking to sit in guard and control but Kenyon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Takeda is trying to maintain the position but Kenyon is very close to passing his half guard.
Kenyon looks to land a strike but Takeda avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Takeda manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kenyon manages to get himself to full guard.

Kenyon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kenyon is on top in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters circling - Takeda throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Takeda slips a jab and a cross from Kenyon.

Kenyon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Takeda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kenyon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kenyon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kenyon is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Takeda has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Takeda!

Takeda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kenyon.

Kenyon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Takeda sprawls well initially but Kenyon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kenyon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Takeda's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kenyon connects with a nice short shot to Takeda's temple.

Takeda wants to get back to striking at distance but Kenyon won't allow it.

enabling Kenyon to counter with a crisp jab.

Takeda has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Takeda there as he acknowledges the shot.

Well Kenyon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
