The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valchek closes the distance and clinches up with Brooks, looking for a takedown. Valchek pushes Brooks against the cage but Brooks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Valchek misses the jab.

Valchek moves into the clinch successfully.
Brooks connects with a knee to the head.
Brooks landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Valchek stalling in the clinch but Brooks improves position.
Valchek fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Valchek lands a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brooks is on top in guard.
Brooks wants to stand but Valchek is controlling his posture from full guard.
Brooks is stalling in the full guard.

Valchek looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Brooks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Valchek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brooks avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Valchek had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Brooks is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Valchek Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Brooks's back instead.
Brooks just trying to survive but Valchek is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Valchek lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Brooks hold on?!

Brooks is trapped and Valchek is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Valchek is cranking Brooks's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Brooks! He's tightened the choke and Brooks is tapping out!
