The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Talvilahti tries a head kick but it misses.
Benson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Benson closes the distance and clinches up with Talvilahti, looking for a takedown. Benson pushes Talvilahti against the cage but Talvilahti circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Benson goes for a double leg but Talvilahti avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Talvilahti continues to drive forward.

Talvilahti shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Benson eats them both and turns towards Talvilahti to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Benson wants to stand and escape but instead Talvilahti has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Talvilahti seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Talvilahti is looking for a kimura but Benson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Talvilahti to get the leverage.
Talvilahti looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Talvilahti is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Talvilahti just misses with a punch to the body.
Benson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Benson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Talvilahti pinned against the cage. Talvilahti gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Talvilahti moves in looking to clinch but Benson pushes him off.

Benson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Talvilahti swivels and escapes.

Talvilahti closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Benson did well to prevent Talvilahti getting side control.

Talvilahti has hold of Benson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Benson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Talvilahti lands a couple of good shots and Benson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
