The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith Jr throws out a loose jab but Whittaker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Whittaker feints and then cracks Smith Jr's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smith Jr down.
Whittaker throws a hook but Smith Jr blocks it.
Smith Jr throws a looping overhand right but Whittaker ducks down to avoid it.
Smith Jr gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Whittaker doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Whittaker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
