Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bernard Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Benton might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton. Bernard Benton has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bernard Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gus White!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White throws a hook but Benton blocks it.
Benton checks the leg kick.

White closes the distance and clinches.
Benton looking for a takedown.
White misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Benton tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and White avoids it.
White can't find room to land a body shot as Benton controls the action.
White lands a left hand.
White misses with a hook to the ribs.

Benton has White pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Benton pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending White tumbling to the mat - Benton dives into White's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
White is trying to control the position but Benton postures up.
Benton won't allow White to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Benton throws a series of punches but White moves out of range.
White moves out of range of the strikes.
White steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Benton.
Benton throws out a loose jab but White uses good head movement to avoid it.
Benton throws a lazy right hand but White sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Benton moves out of range of the leg kick from White.
White looks to land a right hand but Benton moved out of range.
Benton tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but White defends well and Benton ends up having to push White into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Benton.
Benton lands a nice elbow.
Benton presses White against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Benton blocks a body shot from White.
A head punch on the inside from Benton fails to land.

Benton blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Benton breaks from the clinch.
White tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Benton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
White throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
White misses with an attempted mid kick.
White throws a solid leg kick but Benton takes the impact on his shin and smiles at White.
White takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
White misses with the combination.
White looks to land a right hand but Benton moved out of range.
Benton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? White is fending him off so far but Benton persists. Nope, White circles away and we're back to standing.
Benton looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

White lands a jab to Benton's midsection.
White throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
White throws a good cross that connects.

and Benton counters with a nice double leg into side control. White won't be happy with that.

Benton is trying to ground and pound but White uses the momentary lack of control by Benton to regain half guard.
Benton is looking to take a break and control but White is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Bernard Benton will probably get the nod.

Benton throws an elbow that misses. White uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Benton's guard. Nice move by White!
White stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benton swivels though and keeps the full guard.
White wants to stand and escape but instead Benton has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

White avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Benton tries to free his leg and advance position but White is retaining full guard.
Benton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Benton's jab looks to have found its range, popping White under the eye.
Benton throws a sloppy head kick and White moves out of range easily.

Gus White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and White takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

White is looking to chop away at Benton's legs.
Benton misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
White keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

White rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Benton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
