The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sponseller has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sponseller missing with knees to the body.
Kalua is trying to break the clinch but Sponseller has him pressed against the cage.
Sponseller tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Sponseller digs a right hand into Kalua's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kalua's gas tank.
Kalua wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sponseller goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Sponseller.

Kalua breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sponseller wants to clinch.
Sponseller swats away the attempt to clinch by Kalua.
Sponseller walks into a stiff left hand from Kalua.
Sponseller tries to clinch but Kalua moves out of range.
Kalua circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sponseller doesn't manage to clinch there - Kalua circles away.
A head kick misses from Sponseller.
Kalua rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sponseller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sponseller has managed to clinch.
Sponseller gets through Kalua's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kalua lands a shoulder strike.
Sponseller using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kalua has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Sponseller tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Sponseller pushes Kalua back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Kalua breaks from the clinch.

Sponseller avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sponseller tries to clinch there but Kalua circles away.
Kalua throws a right hand that Sponseller ducks under and follows up with a left that Sponseller also avoids with ease.
Kalua connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kalua swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sponseller tries to close the distance and clinch but Kalua swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sponseller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kalua keeps the fight on the outside.
Sponseller takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kalua lands a glancing blow to the side of Sponseller's head.

Sponseller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kalua, pushing him back against the cage.
Sponseller misses with a knee strike.
Kalua lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sponseller backwards.
Sponseller crunches a lovely knee into Kalua's ribcage.
Sponseller is breathing heavily.

Kalua escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kalua stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kalua throws a series of punches but Sponseller avoids them all with ease.
Kalua keeps the fight on the outside.
Kalua lands a left and a right that sends Sponseller crashing to the canvas! Kalua dives into mount looking to finish!

Sponseller is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kalua moves to take his opponent's back.
Oh Sponseller is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kalua working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Sponseller is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Kalua has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Sponseller taps out!
