PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackie Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leif Silbersky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leif Silbersky!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan throws a quick inside leg kick.
A swing and a miss from Silbersky.
Chan fails with the takedown.
Silbersky loads up on a big right hand but Chan slips the punch.
Silbersky takes a kick to the side of the head.
Silbersky misses with a straight left.
Silbersky throws a jab when Chan was well out of range.
Silbersky misses with a series of wild punches.
Chan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silbersky tries to avoid it but Chan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silbersky to the ground. Silbersky escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Silbersky misses with an uppercut.
Chan keeps the fight on the outside.

and Chan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chan.
Chan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Silbersky avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Silbersky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silbersky has his foot on Chan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chan works his way back into a safe position though.
Chan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silbersky on the ground.

Chan is looking to take a break and control but Silbersky is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Chan tries to stand and escape but Silbersky is controlling the position.
Chan thows a huge punch but Silbersky dodges it nicely.
Silbersky wants to improve his position but Chan is controlling well.
It looks like Chan is going to stand back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chan has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Silbersky is in all sorts of trouble here.

Chan is trying to control the action in half guard but Silbersky is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Silbersky is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silbersky is not content to let Chan control the position.
Silbersky wants to control but Chan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silbersky is refusing to be controlled, as Chan sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Chan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Chan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silbersky swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's time! Chan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Chan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Silbersky misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Chan is keen to just control but Silbersky is a slippery customer.

Silbersky is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Chan pulls his head out easily.

Silbersky is looking to control Chan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silbersky avoid being mounted?

Chan feints and as Silbersky raises his hands in defense, Chan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Silbersky is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chan is stalling here. Silbersky is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Chan seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Silbersky has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Silbersky goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Chan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Silbersky but great work by Chan.

Jackie Chan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Silbersky lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Danga de danga de dang - Chan scores with a four punch combination!

Chan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silbersky looking to stall.
Silbersky misses with a hook from the clinch.
Silbersky tries to stall but Chan uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Chan has Silbersky pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Silbersky manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Chan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Chan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Chan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silbersky's guard.

Chan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Silbersky cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The ground and pound from Silbersky seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Chan is trying to control Silbersky's posture but Silbersky avoids it.

Silbersky tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silbersky has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Silbersky works to advance to full mount. Chan defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Silbersky thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Chan tries to hold on but Silbersky postures up.

Chan wants to hold on but Silbersky pushes him away.

Silbersky looking for a guillotine from mount but Chan is having none of it.
Silbersky throws some wild stikes that Chan manages to avoid easily.
Leif Silbersky has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Leif Silbersky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Chan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
