Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyufi Kjyouky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dennis Franks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lyufi Kjyouky!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kjyouky avoids a kick to the body.

Franks decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kjyouky wants to sweep but Franks has passed to side control!
Franks happy to just control the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kjyouky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Franks in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Franks tries to move to mount but Kjyouky blocks the move with his legs.
Franks is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
What's Kjyouky going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Franks controls the position.
Franks really is a fat lump.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Franks counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kjyouky's guard now.
Franks is stalling in the full guard.
Kjyouky preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Franks stays in close to Kjyouky's body and controls the position.

Franks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Franks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kjyouky is trying to control the position but Franks postures up.
Franks working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Franks trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Franks works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Franks is nestled in close to Kjyouky, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Franks wants to stand up but Kjyouky has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Kjyouky is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Franks decides to stand back up. Franks steps back and let's Kjyouky get back to his feet.

Kjyouky is trying to control but Franks manages to pass to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Franks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kjyouky is looking for a sweep.

Franks throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Kjyouky tries to bench press Franks off him but Franks keeps the position.

Franks is looking to stand but Franks has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Franks lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Dennis Franks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kjyouky wants to hold on but Franks pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Franks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kjyouky is looking to improve his position but Franks isn't that keen on the idea.

The referee warns Kjyouky that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Franks takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Franks postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kjyouky looks a forlorn figure.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Franks swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Franks shoots in and bounces Kjyouky off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kjyouky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Franks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Franks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kjyouky connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kjyouky fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Franks is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kjyouky will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Franks's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
