Giljotin comes to the cage accompanied by Ticon - Miss 11 PM (DJ CHILLER REMIX 2011) . Russo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Volbeat - The Human Instrument. David Giljotin has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Giljotin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vinny Russo!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giljotin steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Russo. That one must have hurt.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Russo.
Vinny Russo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Russo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Russo counters with a stiff right hand.
Giljotin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Russo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Giljotin shoots in for a takedown but Russo shows good takedown defense.

and Russo counters with a slapping leg kick.

enabling Russo to counter with a crisp jab.
Russo throws a good cross that connects.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Giljotin shoots in for a takedown but Russo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Russo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Giljotin has time to react.

Giljotin dives in and grabs Russo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Russo pushes down on Giljotin's head and hops out.

and Giljotin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Giljotin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Giljotin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Giljotin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Russo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Giljotin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Giljotin is nestled in close to Russo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Russo wants to improve his position but Giljotin is controlling well.

Giljotin postures up and lands a big shot to Russo's brow.
Russo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Russo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Giljotin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Giljotin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Russo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Giljotin defends it easily.

Giljotin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Giljotin drops back looking for a leg! Russo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Russo manages to kick Giljotin off! Giljotin jumps back into Russo's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vinny Russo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Giljotin misses with a takedown
and Russo counters with a low kick, right behind Giljotin 's knee.
Russo has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Giljotin is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Russo throws a sloppy head kick and Giljotin moves out of range easily.
Giljotin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Russo.

Giljotin shoots in and bounces Russo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Giljotin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Giljotin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Giljotin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Russo is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Giljotin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Russo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Giljotin has managed to get both his arms back between Russo's legs - danger averted.

David Giljotin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Russo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Giljotin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Giljotin throws a big elbow that misses.

Giljotin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Russo, up you get!

and Russo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Russo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Giljotin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Giljotin darts in looking for a takedown but Russo gets double underhooks and turns Giljotin into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Giljotin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Giljotin wants to take the fight to the mat but Russo manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Russo, right into the meat.
Vinny Russo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Giljotin takes one to the side of the head.
Giljotin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Giljotin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Russo throws a right hand that Giljotin ducks under and follows up with a left that Giljotin also avoids with ease.
Giljotin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Giljotin darts in looking for a takedown but Russo gets double underhooks and turns Giljotin into the cage.
Giljotin swings wildly with an uppercut but Russo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Russo doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Giljotin will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Russo up against the cage.

Russo struggles to land a body shot inside as Giljotin controls his hands.
Russo misses with a punch on the inside.
Giljotin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Russo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Giljotin pulls Russo into guard.
Russo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Giljotin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Giljotin looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Russo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Russo is keen to just control but Giljotin is a slippery customer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Giljotin wants to control the action here but instead Russo manages to pass to full mount!
Russo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Giljotin swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Vinny Russo will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Russo leaves Giljotin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Russo gets caught flat footed, as Giljotin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Russo has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Giljotin should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Russo has tightened it up now! Giljotin should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Vinny Russo!
Vinny Russo took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'That fight was weird - it was like I was fighting an enigma of myself. You know, those things that are like ghosts, but they're also kinda like your reflection. Anyways, glad I won. See ya later.'.
