Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kurtis Mejia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Gilbert!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilbert throws a series of punches but Mejia avoids them all with ease.
Gilbert pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gilbert throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gilbert throws a right hand that Mejia ducks under and follows up with a left that Mejia also avoids with ease.
Mejia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mejia is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gilbert sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Gilbert throws a series of punches but Mejia moves out of range.
Gilbert swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Mejia counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mejia sitting in guard here, content to control.
Mejia wants to stand but Gilbert is controlling his posture from full guard.

Mejia tries to free his leg and advance position but Gilbert is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kurtis Mejia just wasn't active enough.
Gilbert misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gilbert looks to land a combination. Mejia sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Frank Gilbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mejia fails with the takedown.
Mejia shoots in for a takedown but Gilbert shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurtis Mejia. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mejia closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Gilbert tries to break free but Mejia pushes him back against the cage.

Gilbert wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Gilbert pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gilbert pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mejia doesn't manage to clinch there - Gilbert circles away.

Mejia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gilbert throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gilbert misses with a few strikes there.
Gilbert looks winded!
Gilbert misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mejia.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gilbert seems a little lost for a moment, as Mejia dominates the positioning.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gilbert tries to escape but Mejia is in control.
Mejia scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gilbert to see if he's OK.

Mejia is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gilbert looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mejia gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gilbert is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mejia lets go of the hold and Gilbert can pop his arm back in it's socket.
