The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Three keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Three tries to clinch up but Monroe circles away and keeps his distance.
Three has a takedown stuffed.
Monroe fails with a takedown attempt.
Monroe shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Federico Monroe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Monroe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Three to the mat! Three manages to get full guard.

Three really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monroe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monroe is pushing down on Three's leg trying to pass to half guard. Three is fighting to maintain full guard but Monroe has managed to sneak the leg through.

Monroe stops Three from getting back to his feet.
Three tries to roll over but Monroe keeps him under control.
Three has a hand on Monroe's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Monroe takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Monroe is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Three can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Three is looking to improve his position but Monroe isn't that keen on the idea.
Monroe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Three tries to improve his position but Monroe has taken his back! Monroe has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Three tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Monroe pushes Three away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
