PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Dall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drago has chosen Gonna Fly Now as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Dall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dall uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Drago.
Dall throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Drago moves into the clinch.

Drago breaks from the clinch.
Drago tries to bum rush Dall with a series of wild strikes but Dall uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A nice inside leg kick there by Drago. That's going to slow Dall down.

Dall looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Drago clinches up with Dall and pushes him back against the cage.

Dall blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Drago goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Dall tries to keep at a distance but Drago has taken the fight into the clinch.

A head punch on the inside from Dall fails to land.

Dall lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Drago backwards.
Dall wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Drago has him pressed against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ivan Drago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dall connects with a body shot.
Dall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Drago looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Dall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Drago throws a low kick, looking for Dall's leg but Dall calmly moves out of range.
Dall ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Drago looks to land a combination but Dall avoids it well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dall lands a two punch combo.
Dall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dall is looking to wear down Drago with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Drago with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dall to score with a decent uppercut.
Dall lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Drago in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Dall lands a left and a right that send Drago crashing to the mat, dazed. Dall thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Dall cracks Drago with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Drago falls to his knees and Dall doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Dall!
After the fight, Karl Dall was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Ivan Drago spoke after the fight, saying 'I didn't preform my best tonight but I'll come back better than ever'.
