Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brad Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Punch Punchinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Perry misses.
Punchinson misses with a takedown

and Perry counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Perry.

Perry has Punchinson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Perry pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Punchinson tumbling to the mat - Perry dives into Punchinson's guard.
Perry seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Perry decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Punchinson tries to pull guard but Perry holds him up against the cage and eventually Punchinson drops back down to his feet.
Perry can't find room to land a body shot as Punchinson controls the action.
Punchinson jumps guard but Perry stands there with Punchinson around his waist. Punchinson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Brad Perry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Punch Punchinson.

Punchinson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Punchinson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Perry lands a takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Perry with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Perry drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Perry jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Punchinson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Perry is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Punchinson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brad Perry.
Punchinson misses with the combination.
Perry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Punchinson thuds his right hand into Perry's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Perry counters with a nice double leg into side control. Punchinson won't be happy with that.

The referee asks Perry politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Perry prefers to stall for the moment though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Perry goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Punchinson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Perry's guard! Nice work there by Punchinson!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Perry turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Perry manages to end up in side control.
